The uniquely brilliant designs featured on these Hair Ties were created by indigenous artist Mikala Louisa McSaveney. Here's a message from Mikala:

 "My name is Mikala Louisa,

I identify as a Yuwaalaraay Woman from Goodooga NSW.
I’m a full time Emergency Nurse and a part time Aboriginal Artist,
Living on beautiful Gubbi Gubbi Land.
I first started this journey by learning more about my family history
and reconnecting with mob.

This is where I found the name ‘Louisa’.
It is not only my middle name, I Share it with multiple ancestors!
My art is inspired by the beauty in everyday life,
with a large appreciation for the ocean and wildlife.

Historically- First Nations Peoples used Stories and
Visual arts to communicate.
I will continue to Pay my up most respects to
First Nations past, present and emerging,
while providing authentic contemporary Aboriginal Art.

I strive to tell the stories and continue to educate
through our traditional ways of communication.

I Hope my art brings you joy and sparks a new love for cultural heritage.
Much Love, Mikala Louisa xx "

Traditional Symbols Key:
U - Sitting shape made by human legs. ‘Human’
O - Sitting Circle, camp fire, a place to gather.
I - Used to represent spears and/or sticks.
Turtle - A source of food, a respected totem & often talked about in Dreamtime.

Not very stretchy. If you have thick hair like I do then I’d suggest going with other ones. Otherwise they work wonderfully!

Great colours. Used them as a gift - so haven't been able to test their quality.
